Mexican chili mojito

A rum and lime cocktail with a cheeky chilli kick!


  • 100ml soda or sparkling water
  • 60ml rum
  • 1 x lime, juiced
  • 1 x rough cane sugar cube
  • 2 x slices fresh red chilli
  • A few fresh mint leaves
  • Crushed ice
  • Fresh mint sprigs and fresh chilli to serve


  • The chili slices, the mint leaves, sugar cubes and the lime juice in a mortar mash. Alternatively you can also the end of a rolling pin and use a plastic bowl. As long as by crushing, until the sugar has dissolved and the chilli and mint give off their full flavor.
  • The mixture into a tall glass filled.
  • Then pour over the rum and soda water (or bottled water). Add a spoonful of crushed ice and then mix with a long spoon or a stirring rod.

Make it your way

Garnish with a fresh Minzstängel and serve ice cold. For the extra kick a few thin strips of fresh red chili pepper in the glass give!

Cooks Tips

If no fresh chili peppers are available, but the drink is said to have the chilli kick, simply mix a drop or two of hot chili sauce into the drink!
